Casa Peru to showcase over 400 typical products at World Cup

16:59 | Lima, May. 24.

Casa Peru will showcase more than 400 typical products from nearly all the Inca country's regions in Moscow during the FIFA World Cup, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia informed Thursday.

This initiative is part of a campaign —led by the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru)— to promote Peru's exportable offer in Russia.

"150,000 people from the World-Cup-participating countries are expected to visit Casa Peru in Russia, as we will be (located) very close to the main square with the exhibition and product tasting (sessions)," Valencia noted.

In this sense, he projected an international media impact of US$20 million.

Taking into consideration that Moscow has always been Russia's major source of tourists, the government official estimated that over 100 million people will be able to learn about Peru.

It must be noted this campaign entails a total investment of S/20 million (about US$6.114 million).

"All of Peru will be promoted, with emphasis on tourism clusters, particularly Amazonian and Andean regions," Valencia remarked.

"We want to show the diversity of Peruvian geography as much as we can," he added.

Activities

Casa Peru will feature art exhibitions, as well as dance and music lessons featuring native instruments, and virtual reality activities.

The gastronomy will also be present to delight attendees' palates. National chefs Victor Gutierrez, Jorge Muñoz, and Robert Ortiz, among others, will be in charge of putting the Inca country's cuisine in the spotlight.

As part of promotion efforts, Casa Peru will have a trailer that will be visiting the cities where the red-white squad will play its first three matches

Casa Peru will open its doors on June 18-28 at Manege Exhibition Center, near Moscow's Red Square.
