Binational Cabinet: Peru and Ecuador will join efforts to reduce poverty

The Governments of Peru and Ecuador on Thursday pledged to work together on development and social protection, poverty reduction, as well as to focus on the most vulnerable people, so they can have access to social programs and services.

These commitments are part of the Presidential Declaration of Tumbes signed by Peruvian Head of State Martin Vizcarra and his Ecuadorian counterpart Lenin Moreno at the Presidential Meeting and 13th Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet.

"As a result of the meetings held in Tumbes, 60 new commitments have been assumed, which we all must fulfill. These commitments are of a different nature, but they are all of the utmost importance because they aim to improve the standard of living of our Ecuadorian and Peruvian citizens," President Vizcarra said.

Regarding the commitments of the Social and Cultural Affairs thematic axis included in the Presidential Declaration of Tumbes, the parties agreed on the importance of improving the knowledge exchange and technical assistance between the Development and Social Inclusion Ministry of Peru and the Social Registry Unit of Ecuador.

Both institutions will focus on the territory of the most vulnerable people, so they can have access to social programs and services.

Social protection

Likewise, the Presidents ratified the political commitment and the firm will to achieve the objectives set, in terms of development and social protection, poverty reduction with an emphasis on economic and social inclusion, which will improve the quality of life and guarantee the rights of the most vulnerable populations.
