Marca Peru (Peru's country brand) reached one of its most important international showcases by taking part in the global broadcast of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, held in New York City last Saturday.

During U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance's official speech, the sail training ship B.A.P. Union was seen sailing along the Hudson River as part of the main setting for the international SAIL 250 event.

On board was Casa Peru (Peru House), a platform set up by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperu) to showcase the country's tourism, cultural, and export offerings.

"The presence of the Peruvian sailing ship at one of the most emblematic ceremonies on the U.S. calendar represented a valuable opportunity for international exposure for Peru's image," Promperu stated.

"The event brings together naval delegations from around the world and its coverage is followed by millions of viewers," it added.

As part of the 2026 Foreign Training Cruise (VIEX), the B.A.P. Union is taking part in SAIL 250—considered one of the world's most important nautical gatherings.

This year's edition brings together 43 large sailing ships from 20 countries, as well as dozens of warships and aircraft, with an estimated attendance of more than six million people.

From July 5 to 7, thousands of visitors will be able to tour the B.A.P. Union free of charge and visit Casa Peru—an immersive space developed by Promperu under the concept "Peru, a country of unique experiences."

The exhibit showcases the country's tourism diversity, export offerings, cultural wealth, and commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Agreement with the Navy

The Marca Peru sail and Casa Peru, both installed aboard the B.A.P. Union, are part of an interinstitutional cooperation agreement between Promperu and the Peruvian Navy.

This strategic partnership turns the training ship into a traveling platform for promoting the country.

"Through this initiative, led by Promperu, Peru showcases at every port its tourism offerings, export products, cultural heritage, biodiversity, and identity, strengthening its international positioning and bringing the best of the country to thousands of people at the main destinations along its voyage," the agency attached to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) emphasized.
