14:01 | Lima, Apr. 19 (ANDINA).

The temporary exhibition displaying archaeological treasures from Machu Picchu will be open until tomorrow, April 20, at the Government Palace in Lima.

The exhibit named “Machu Picchu, 100 years later: The Reunion” has attracted a total of 196,129 Peruvian and foreign visitors since its opening on April 5.

Those interested may visit the display free of charge from 09:00 to 20:00 hours at the presidential palace in downtown Lima.

After being shown at the Executive headquarters, the pieces will be transferred to the Casa Concha in Cusco, where they will remain indefinitely.

The exhibit features ceramics, skeletal remains, stones and metal objects which were taken from the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in the early 1900s.

The artifacts were recovered from Yale University thanks to an intense government-backed campaign which aimed to gain the world’s support.
