Numerous Venezuelan citizens gathered today outside their country's embassy in Lima, following the announcement of the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Since the early hours of the morning, Venezuelan citizens expressed their joy after hearing the latest news about Maduro's arrest.

"The dictatorship has fallen," said one Venezuelan citizen, an immigrant in Peru, like many of his compatriots, after the crisis in Venezuela.

Many Venezuelans embraced each other, while others wept with emotion outside the Venezuelan embassy, located in downtown Lima.

Some Venezuelan citizens arrived at the diplomatic mission carrying their country's flags.

US President Donald Trump asserted that US forces captured Nicolás Maduro following a military operation conducted on Venezuelan territory.

He stated that authorities transported Maduro and his wife out of the country.
