The United Kingdom expressed interest in cooperating in the development of Peru's major railway projects, highlighting the Lima–Ica Train and Lima Metro Lines 3-4, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) reported.

These initiatives are being promoted under the guidelines of the new Public–Private Partnerships (PPP) Law.

This was conveyed by the British delegation, led by Ambassador Gavin Cook. The group held a working meeting with Peru's Transportation and Communications Minister Aldo Prieto, aimed at strengthening cooperation in transport and communications.

Minister Prieto emphasized that technical exchanges with the UK will help promote efficient and transparent investments aimed at benefiting citizens.

The British experience in managing large-scale projects was highlighted as well. It opens up opportunities to strengthen capacities and promote modern cooperation mechanisms that contribute to closing infrastructure gaps in the South American country.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Communications Minister, the MTC's Secretary General, the Advisory Cabinet Chief, and representatives from the General Directorate of Transport Programs and Projects as well. They presented technical progress and sector priorities.

The MTC stated that it continues to consolidate strategic alliances aimed at fostering the development of modern infrastructure in Peru, as in the case of the United Kingdom.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainable and inclusive projects aimed at improving connectivity and the quality of life for millions of Peruvians.
