TikTok —a social network platform for short videos on mobile devices— has made the first delivery of a donation consisting of 60,000 protective suits destined for the Ministry of Health of Peru.

This donation —which reveals the importance of multi-stakeholder cooperation to face global issues such as the current COVID-19 pandemic— will contribute to the protection of health personnel who are on the front line in the fight against the virus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported.

The transfer of these protective suits to Peru was possible thanks to the efforts made by NGO Direct Relief. Likewise, it was supported by the Embassy of Peru in the United States, the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

About TikTok

According to data from Sensor Tower, the number of TikTok users began to increase last January. The growth was strengthened in the quarantine period due to the COVID-19 health emergency.

Only last July, TikTok was downloaded more than 65.2 million times, according to data from iOS and Android. This figure represents, in percentage terms, an increase of 21.4% compared to July 2019.

Facebook was the second most installed app worldwide that month (53.6 million).
