Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Rogers Valencia, and the Executive President of Promperú, Teresa Mera Gómez, granted the ‘Marca Perú’ (Peru Brand) usage license to world surfing champion Sofía Mulanovich, in recognition of her athletic career and her contribution to the country’s international profile.
During the ceremony, the Minister highlighted the athlete as a source of national pride and identity.
“‘Marca Perú’ represents the pride we carry within us—pride that we wish to project to the world. Sofía Mulanovich is a symbol of joy, hard work, and pride for our country,” stated Minister Valencia.
The license was presented during the launch of the ‘Surf Fest Pro League, by Sofía Mulanovich’—an international circuit that will hold its second event from November 19 to 22 at Punta Rocas, and its third event from December 3 to 6 at Señoritas Beach in Punta Hermosa, Lima.
The competition is part of the ALAS Global Tour and will help showcase Peruvian beaches to international athletes and visitors.
The event was attended by Franco Portocarrero, General Manager of TSA CORP; Camila Gómez de la Torre, representative of Yape; Karín Sierralta, CEO of ALAS; Elfri Navarrete, President of the National Surfing Sports Federation; and surfers Miguel Tudela and Sofía Artieda, among other guests.
The ‘Marca Perú’ usage license granted to Sofía Mulanovich and TSA CORP S.A.C. aims to leverage the athlete’s international recognition to organize sporting events capable of attracting visitors and promoting the country’s image in international markets.
Through this partnership between the public sector, private enterprise, and athletes, Mincetur and Promperú are promoting the diversification of the national tourism offering, highlighting the potential of Peru’s beaches and their integration with experiences centered on nature, adventure, gastronomy, and culture.
Furthermore, the initiative aims to create economic opportunities for lodging establishments, restaurants, tour operators, and entrepreneurs in the host destinations.
