Cornejo noted that the construction of five stretches of this road, which will connect the Peruvian southern departments of Madre de Dios, Cusco, Puno, Ica, Apurimac, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna with Brazil and Bolivia, is progressing according to plan.
In that sense, Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), highligted the bioceanic integration effort that will allow to connect regions of our country with those of Brazil and Bolivia.
"The five stretches that have different levels of implementation are progressing at expected rates; that is why we will finish the Interoceanic Sur Highway in the first quarter of 2011," he said.
Interoceanic Sur Highway has a total length of 2,550 kilometers in its five stretches. Construction began in July 2006.
