About 100,000 Brazilian tourists will visit Peru next year with the construction of the Peru-Brazil Southern Interoceanic Corridor (IIRSA SUR), the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) reported.
“Brazilian tourists travel across the region if border crossings are available. We estimate that Brazilian visitors will increase to 250,000 in 2012 or 2013, thanks to the IIRSA Sur,” he told Andina News Agency.
On Wednesday, Peruvian President Alan Garcia attended the asphalt pavement laying ceremony of the last kilometer of the 2,400-km Southern Interoceanic corridor connecting the two countries.
In addition, Carlos Canales said travel agencies provide special offers with low prices in the Brazilian market and that our country will turn into a more attractive destination.
On the other hand, Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Eduardo Ferreyros pointed out that they are working on the creation of an special tourist route through IIRSA Sur.
“We are working to generate this new tourist route and choose different places for tourists. IIRSA Sur is a great project that is not only going to benefit trade but also tourism industry,” he underlined.
