Former ASP Women's World Champion Peruvian surfer Sofia Mulanovich and Peruvian boxing world champion Kina "Dynamite" Malpartida, who is also surfer, will participate in the World Surfing Games to be held in November in Mancora (Piura), Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) reported.
Piura Governor Cesar Trelles Lara ordered to invest a total of US$ 30,000 (90,000 soles) to organize this championship.
This information was provided by the General Secretary of Piura Regional Government Jorge Cabellos Pozo, who pointed out that this amount of money must be used at the end of this month.
They expect the arrival of boxing world champion and also surfer Kina Malpartida, who will participate in the qualifying round.
Peruvian surfer champion Sofia Mulanovich will also participate; she expects to win this contest, in which world champions Layne Beachley (7 times) and Stephanie Gilmore (2 times) will be also competing.
The Head of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) Arturo Woodman Pollitt congratulated this gesture made by Piura Governor and said that this championship, which is held for the third time in Mancora, will contribute to decentralize the sport and to promote tourism in this area.
