The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday affirmed that his administration works responsibly to provide food security, ensure a better quality of life, as well as guarantee the right to education and health for all Peruvians.

Mr. Castillo participated in the christening and launching ceremony for the Pelicano vessel in Callao region. He reported that it had entailed an investment worth over US$7.5 million.

Similarly, the President highlighted the work carried out by the Navy Industrial Services (SIMA Peru) —a State company with a long history in the naval industry. SIMA Peru built this vessel, which will enable transportation and logistical support for the distribution of guano from the islands.

During the event, the Head of State reiterated that since the beginning of his term in office, his administration has been seeking to bring the country together in the face of enormous fragmentation, "in which we see dark forces that want to impede and hinder true development."

"We are the Government of the people; at these moments of global crisis and times of pandemic, we are working responsibly to guarantee and provide food security for Peruvians, well-being, and (better) quality of life, as well as to guarantee the right to education and health," he expressed.

Furthermore, the top official highlighted the role of the Armed Forces and the National Police at the service of Peru, because they not only safeguard peace and public order, but also contribute to the great social work carried out in a spirit of solidarity in every corner of this country.

"We will not give up on continuing to promote the Second Agrarian Reform by ensuring the transfer of guano from the islands, which guarantees the 2022 and 2023 agricultural development campaign," he noted.

Moreover, the President highlighted the upcoming delivery of the fertilizer grant for farmers and asked State ministers to streamline bureaucratic procedures for the benefit of the population.

Lastly, he asked First Lady Lilia Paredes to be strong so as to move the country forward.
