"May your faith be strengthened with the election of the new Bishop of Rome, successor of Saint Peter: a servant of God who dedicated many years to missionary work and to serving the country's citizens most in need," reads the tweet from the Presidential Office on the X platform.
As a sign of the deep spiritual bond between the Peruvian people and His Holiness, the Head of State presented him with a Motupe cross, a symbol of faith and devotion in our country.
Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer also extended greetings to the Supreme Pontiff, along with all members of the Peruvian delegation present at this event.
Prior to the enthronement, President Boluarte and Pope Leo XIV held an extraordinary audience in the sacristy of St. Peter's Basilica, where they addressed the well-being of all Peruvians.
The Head of State is in the Vatican participating in the ceremony marking the beginning of Pope Leo XIV's Pontificate.
The top official is accompanied by Ministers Elmer Schialer (Foreign Affairs) and Juan Alcantara (Justice and Human Rights).
