stated that the Peruvian government will continue to strengthen the Antarctic system to ensure a continent that reflects the principles of peace and environmental preservation.
Within this framework, the top official emphasized that the future of this country and the white continent are inseparable. Mrs. Boluarte said that is why it is important to continue fostering its conservation for new generations.
"Peru will continue to strengthen the Antarctic system by working in unity and coordination with the other member countries of the treaty to ensure that future generations have a continent that reflects the principles of peace and environmental preservation," she stated during her speech on Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Boluarte added that the government renews its commitment to reaffirm the value of Antarctica as a nature reserve, devoted to peace and science.
The president said that being a consultative party to the treaty granted us a voice and vote in decision-making regarding the Antarctic continent's governance, a role that is fulfilled with a high sense of responsibility.
"At this point, we would like to highlight the important contribution of scientists, the Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (which is) the governing body for national Antarctic policy; this teamwork, in unity, enabled us to achieve participation with a voice and vote, which we have today," she underlined.
