President of Peru congratulates Editora Peru on its 47th anniversary

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday congratulated Editora Peru on the 47th anniversary of the institution's establishment at the service of all Peruvians.

In a letter to Hugo Aguirre, chairman of the company's Board of Directors, the Head of State congratulated the family of Editora Peru —a State-run company that owns Peru's Official Gazette El Peruano, Andina news agency and Editorial and Graphic Services (Segraf)— on its 47th anniversary.

"It is a great occasion to extend our congratulations for its important work in disseminating legal, official, and journalistic information, which contributes to strengthening national identity and democracy to the benefit of all Peruvians," President Boluarte remarked.

Moreover, the dignitary stated that Editora Peru has obtained various achievements such as the inclusion of the issues of the Ofifical Gazette El Peruano in the Regional Register of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program for Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the award for recognition of Good Practices in Public Sector Management, among others.

"Dina Ercila Boluarte Zegarra takes this opportunity to extend her best wishes to the team of Editora Peru and to call on it to continue fulfilling this important role as a Peruvian State-run media outlet," read the letter signed by the President of the Republic herself.

Editora Peru began operations on February 12, 1976, with the establishment of its first Board of Directors, in accordance with Decree Law No 21420, Organic Law of the Company.

Said regulation stated that Editora Peru had to take over the activities of Editora La Cronica y Variedades S.A., Empresa Editora del Diario Oficial El Peruano, and Editorial Viru S.A, with the aim of editing the newspapers La Cronica, La Tercera, and Diario Oficial El Peruano (the Official Gazette El Peruano).

In addition, Editora Peru was in charge of printing books, magazines, brochures, and every sort of publication so as to promote and disseminate culture at the national level.
