The APEC Leaders' Week will consolidate Peru's position in the Asia-Pacific region and its image as a reliable partner for responsible investments, President Dina Boluarte stated on Thursday.

"Under our APEC presidency, we have hosted meetings of senior officials from member economies of this important forum, as well as ministerial meetings on foreign trade, tourism, food security, small & medium-sized enterprises, and mining," Mrs. Boluarte indicated.

During this time, according to the Head of State, more than a dozen documents and resolutions have been approved by consensus to benefit the smooth progress of the region and its inhabitants.

"This is another example of how together we must continue to grow and put Peru in the spotlight. Peru is back and it doesn't stop," she stated.

The president also said the upcoming inauguration of the Chancay Megaport, along with the Bicentennial Dock in Callao region, will turn Peru into the South Pacific's main port center.

"This megaport confirms the important role that China plays in Peru as a driving force for investment and development for all Peruvians," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

"The bilateral relationship is solid and fruitful; we confirmed this during the State visit we made last June. I would like to take this opportunity to thank President Xi Jinping for this welcome," she underlined.

The Head of State presided over the donation ceremony of motorcycles and other vehicles from China, at the Lima-based Government Palace, to strengthen security during the upcoming APEC 2024 forum meetings.

The top official indicated that this contribution will allow for strengthening the organization of the APEC 2024 Leaders' Week, to be held in Lima this November, and is a clear example of the level of bilateral relations between Peru and China.

"These goods will add to the efforts we have been doing with the Peruvian National Police and State Security, guaranteeing full security at APEC. They also reflect China's determined will to support the Peruvian government so that the forum will be a success. On behalf of Peru, I express our deep gratitude for this important donation," she stated.

Mrs. Boluarte underscored that Peru and China —two ancient nations— maintain a solid economic and commercial link, as well as a bilateral relationship that is strengthened with this contribution, within the framework of APEC 2024.

"All our compatriots must love our homeland and showcase Peru in the world so that investments can come," she concluded.

This ceremony was attended by Cabinet Chief Gustavo Adrianzen, Ministers Elmer Schialer (Foreign Affairs) Juan Jose Santivañez (Interior), and Eduardo Arana (Justice), as well as Chinese Ambassador to Peru, Song Yang.

The donation consists of 110 vehicles, including automobiles, buses, and motorcycles, plus 14 security scanners, among others, valued at approximately US$7 million, according to Minister Schialer.
