Pope Leo XIV, who is on an official visit to France, stopped briefly in front of the image of the
Lord of Miracles at the historic Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
The Supreme Pontiff greeted the replica that survived the fire that consumed part of the temple in April 2019.
As he made his way toward the cathedral's altar, Leo XIV gazed for several seconds at Peru's Purple Christ, located in one of the side aisles of the church.
The Lord of Miracles image was reinstalled at Notre-Dame in October 2025, ten months after the cathedral reopened following the fire that threatened the structure and caused severe damage to its vaults, roof, and spire, which eventually collapsed.
The reinstallation of the so-called Christ of Pachacamilla's replica was the result of the tireless work and devotion of the Lord of Miracles Bearers Brotherhood in Paris.
Through faith and perseverance, they made it possible for the image to continue serving as a symbol of hope and faith for Peruvians and Latin Americans in France and around the world.
During the official broadcast of the emotional ceremony held at the iconic Parisian landmark, Vatican News highlighted that this was the first time Notre-Dame had welcomed a pope since its reopening in December 2024.

Last June, during his visit to Spain, Pope Leo XIV blessed the image of the Brown Christ at the Parish of Saint Augustine, located in Barcelona's Raval district.
On that occasion, the Pontiff remained for several minutes in front of the processional platform, which was adorned with red and white flowers, the colors of Peru's flag.
The Parish of Saint Augustine is also known as the "Cathedral of the Poor" for its work welcoming and assisting people in vulnerable situations.
This will not be His Holiness' only encounter with the Lord of Miracles this year, as the image is expected to be present at the Mass he will celebrate at Las Palmas Air Base in Lima's Surco district on November 16, during his visit to Peru.
As is known, Pope Leo XIV will return to Peru, a country whose nationality he has held since 2015 and where he lived for nearly 20 years.
