Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on Monday highlighted the return of star striker Claudio Pizarro to the Peruvian national team for the first time in about three years.

The 32-year-old was nominated to the 21-man roster by coach Sergio Markarian for La Blanquirroja's two internationals on March 25 (opponent in Madrid not yet determined) and four days later on March 26 in Den Haag against Ecuador.

Pizarro's last appearance for Peru's national team was November 2007 in a 1-1 draw against Brazil, according to an article on the club's official website.

The Bundesliga's top foreign scorer was banned from the national team along with team-mates Santiago Acasiete, Jefferson Farfan and Andres Mendoza for alleged indiscipline at the team hotel following this match.

"I'm very moved by this as I wanted to play for the national team again," Pizarro said last week. "I don't consider myself an 'uncle' (veteran player). I can keep playing for many years."
