The British electronic pop duo Pet Shop Boys said they are happy to perform in Lima tomorrow. Lead singer Neil Tennant recited in Quechua the first verses of a poem he wrote when he was only 16.
"I wrote this song when I was 16, cause I read a book about the last Inca in Peru, and it was a poem, and I know the English translation, but I don't speak Quechua very well", he said at a press conference in Lima.
"The Inca are
Now in heaven
In spite of all I do not die
In Spite of all I do not die
My heart is tighten to my body"...
Pet Shop Boys, consisting of Tennant and Chris Lowe, who arrived in Lima on Saturday regreted not having enough time to visit Machu Picchu and Cusco.
They added they have already visited many historical sites such as Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral, Barranco and the Huaca Pucllana.
The British band also said they have tried several Peruvian dishes and drinks such as the Peruvian wine.
"Yesterday we went to Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral, some shops, different areas, Barranco, we round the area, we had dinner. We tried some Peruvian white wine
and shrimps", Tennat said.
"Peruvian wine is really good", he added.
The band's lead singer praised the exquisite taste of the Pisco Sour, Peru's flagship drink, which he tried on Saturday night in the "Show de los Sueños", a TV show hosted Gisela Valcárcel.
