The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday affirmed that the common problems faced by Latin American countries, such as crime, drug trafficking and corruption, must be addressed not only from the political sphere but also supported by education.
"As a teacher, I see that there is much to be done in the educational framework not only in my country, but (also) in (the rest of) Latin America," he expressed.
Mr. Castillo said he believes the common problems faced by countries in the region are the enemies that must be faced.
Moreover, the President spoke of the need for women leaders and youth to assume leadership and boost the development of our peoples.
"Here, I reiterate that the peoples do not either feed on speeches or ideologies, but on what each family does and what each government must do," he expressed.
Mr. Castillo concluded his participation highlighting the work of
Colombian President Ivan Duque, whose country was in charge of holding the Pro Tempore Presidency in 2021, and which will be handed over to Mexico.
Pacific Alliance
The
Pacific Alliance constitutes a regional integration mechanism made up of Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, through which it seeks to progressively advance towards the free circulation of goods, services, capital, and people.
This is part of a strategy to become a platform for projection to the world, with emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region.
On this occasion, Colombia will hand over the Pro Tempore Presidency to Mexico for the 2022 period.
Peru will assume the bloc's Pro Tempore Presidency in January 2023.
