Peruvian Ambassador to Kuwait Amador Velasquez Garcia-Monterosso inaugurated the country's new embassy in Sharq, Al-Arabiya Tower, after holding temporary office at his Marina residence in Salmiya since March.

"We want to promote and strengthen our bilateral ties and people-to-people contact," said the ambassador, also lauding Kuwait's intention to open an embassy in the Peruvian capital, Lima, shortly. "They said they are just waiting for us to open our embassy here and since we are already here, we expect them to open theirs there soon too.

The diplomat voiced hope that Peru's increased visible presence in Kuwait would ensure that bilateral relations would grow and become stronger.

"Of course, with our presence here we would love to see greater links between our peoples," he explained Thursday. "We'd also like to see a strengthening in our relationship politically, culturally, economically and in tourism.

The new embassy building houses several important artifacts of ancient and modern Peruvian history and culture, reminding visitors of the country's rich cultural heritage, the ambassador revealed, adding that the opening of the new embassy in Kuwait would pave the way to greater cooperation and understanding in all fields between the two nations.
