The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday affirmed that the Government that he leads cannot be distracted by non-national agendas when it comes to making the utmost efforts in sectors such as education.

"We devote efforts and budgets, while others react differently in the streets, in isolated places (...) others pursue a non-national agenda," he commented.

According to the Head of State, the Government is focused on actions such as the vaccination of Peruvians and on giving the population greater peace of mind. "We must continue promoting that," he said.

National Agreement

At the event, the dignitary underscored that education does not have to be a government policy but rather a State policy.

Additionally, Mr. Castillo announced that he will ask the National Agreement forum to include the education issue on the agenda of the meeting scheduled for Saturday, March 26.

"I call on political forces and institutions, unions, and civil society organizations, to address this issue, which is structural. If we do not educate the population, its destiny will be different; we can't afford another 200 years of neglect," he stated.

"We have to lay the foundations for a better education in order to forge upright, free, and honest citizens," the President added.
