The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday affirmed that the Government belongs to the people as it imposes no barriers between them, thus shaping a flat and horizontal path for citizens.

Mr. Castillo participated in the ceremony for the handing over of 1,256 property titles in La Libertad population center belonging to San Rafael district in Bellavista province, Peru's northern San Martin region.

Within this framework, the Head of State indicated that he felt strengthened by the warm reception from residents, adding that he would receive them in the same way at the Government Palace in Lima.

"Because this is a Government of the people; this is a Government where there are no barriers (between the administration and the people); barriers had been difficult to knock down, but not today; today, the path is flat for the country, the path is horizontal for (the sake of) the people," he expressed.

In this sense, the top official explained that some people, who are accustomed to a certain way of life and to looking down on farmers and the working class, nowadays are incredulous about what is happening.

"That is the country that we have received, where the population, teachers, farmers, and housewives must take to the streets holding signs to ask the Government for a bridge, a school, water, and property titles," he said.

Furthermore, the President called on Prime Minister Anibal Torres to "step on the accelerator in meeting the needs of the Peruvian people" and making stalled public works viable.

Moreover, Mr. Castillo reiterated his call on Congress to take into account the 47 bills submitted by the Executive Branch, among which there are initiatives aimed at providing potable water and education services to the population, as well as to recover the country's resources.

He also affirmed that public works for the people must be free of corruption, since this scourge "is the worst burden for development."
