The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo assured that the deaths of Edin Vasquez and Marden Valqui —members of the Armed Forces who recently lost their lives during a military operation against terrorists in the Vizcatan area belonging to the Valley of Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM)— will not remain unpunished.
The Head of State extended condolences and offered the Government's support to the relatives of the brave combatants.
Similarly, the Commander-in-Chief expressed his total support for the Armed Forces and the National Police in the fight against subversion.
"I have ordered that the search for terrorist remnants must go on. This Government will not give up in the anti-subversive fight aimed at maintaining peace and tranquility in the country," Mr. Castillo expressed on his official Twitter account.
Earlier today, the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) reported on a major offensive action against the Shining Path terrorist organization in Vizcatan, the VRAEM area.
According to a release, in this operation —which began on August 11— the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru managed to reach a series of terrorist camps and the main position of terrorist criminal, Victor Quispe Palomino, alias "Comrade Jose."
Peruvian Army Special Forces Non-Commissioned Officer Edin Vasquez Huaman and Navy Sea Officer Marden Valqui Rodriguez died last Friday. They gave their lives fighting bravely during the clashes.
Update at 5:33 p.m. (local time): The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Saturday afternoon paid tribute to the two members of the Armed Forces who died during the anti-subversive confrontation in the Vizcatan area.
During the arrival of the bodies of both soldiers at the Aviation Esplanade of the Peruvian Army, the Head of State expressed his support for the strategy by the Joint Command of the Armed Forces to combat narco-terrorist remnants.
