The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, stated on Wednesday that private investment can translate into increased production and opportunities, both for companies and the population.

"Today, I am not just inaugurating a plant; for the first time, technology is being introduced to manufacture float glass under international standards," Fujimori said.

"(...) we are seeing how private investment can translate into increased production, more technology, more jobs, and more opportunities for our country," she noted.

Likewise, the Head of State indicated that Peru's commitment is to create the conditions for more investment.

This will allow growth to translate into better opportunities for all Peruvians, more jobs, and improved education, public works, basic services, and security.

The top official emphasized that the inauguration of this industrial plant marks an important moment for Peru because, for the first time, an input that previously had to be imported will be produced domestically.

"More than US$130 million was invested, and the plant will have a production capacity of 600 tons per day; that is an incredible and substantial amount of what we will be able to manufacture," she stated.

In this regard, the President indicated that this plant was achieved thanks to the fact that Peru has a solid Political Constitution that provides guarantees to domestic and foreign investors to bet on the country.

"Float glass is used in various sectors. Having domestic production will allow us to meet domestic demand and reduce imports, generating savings of US$70 million," Fujimori noted.

"These are resources that used to leave the country but will now remain in the domestic economy," she added.

Moreover, the Head of State noted that during the construction phase, the project generated approximately 1,000 jobs, most of which were filled by local workers.

Meanwhile, the operational phase will create 850 permanent direct jobs over a five-year period.
