Peru's President leads Council of State session

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti led a new session of the Council of State at the Lima-based Government Palace on Monday.

At the event, various issues were addressed including the Government's actions and new provisions in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Council of State is the body that brings together the highest authorities of the three branches of State, meaning the President of the Republic, as well as the chairs of Congress and the Judiciary, among other chiefs of State-run organizations.

Moreover, Council of State sessions are intended to address highly relevant issues.

The session saw the participation of Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez; the heads of Congress, Mirtha Vasquez; the Judiciary, Elvia Barrios; as well as National Justice Board Vice-Chairman Jose Avila.

Also attending were Attorney General Zoraida Avalos (virtually), Ombudsman Walter Gutierrez, Comptroller General Nelson Shack, Health Minister Oscar Ugarte, and National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR) Chairman Carlos Rua.
