arrived in New York, United States, on Monday to participate in High-Level Week during the 81st United Nations General Assembly session and pursue an international agenda aimed at strengthening Peru's presence, promoting investment opportunities, and expanding cooperation ties.
Today, the Head of State's first activity will be a bilateral meeting with the top officials of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), a specialized UN agency responsible for combating transnational organized crime.
During her stay in New York, Peru's top official will address the General Debate, where heads of state and government present their countries' positions and priorities at the foremost international forum for dialogue.
To carry out her high-level agenda, President Fujimori will be accompanied by an official delegation comprising Ministers Carlos Espa (Foreign Affairs), Elmer Cuba (Economy and Finance), Rogers Valencia (Foreign Trade and Tourism), and Vladimiro Huaroc (Environment).
International leaders and officials
As part of this agenda, the Head of State will meet with international leaders and officials, during which Peru will seek to strengthen its relations, expand areas of cooperation, and present the Government's priorities to its counterparts.
These activities will also help strengthen Peru's presence in political, diplomatic, and multilateral forums, as well as address issues of common interest related to development, security, the economy, and international cooperation.
Business leaders and investors
The presidential agenda includes meetings with multilateral organizations, financial institutions, and private-sector representatives, with an emphasis on promoting investment and cooperation opportunities and mobilizing capital for Peru.
As one of the agenda's most economically significant activities, the Head of State will visit the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). There, she will participate in the Closing Bell Ceremony, in addition to attending protocol activities.
The agenda also includes an event organized by Rainforest Alliance to promote dialogue among representatives of the Peruvian Government, multilateral development banks, foundations, and private investors on sustainability, competitiveness, and green growth opportunities for the South American country.
Fight against crime
The agenda includes President Fujimori's participation in the meeting of heads of state and government on the Santiago Regional Commitment against Transnational Organized Crime, an initiative focused on cooperation to address this phenomenon.
It is worth noting that Peru has joined the "Shield of the Americas," an initiative that seeks to harness international cooperation mechanisms with converging objectives in the areas of security and the fight against organized crime.
During her stay in New York, the President will attend a reception hosted by United States President Donald Trump within the framework of the high-level activities.
