To date, the Peruvian Government has delivered close to 1,600 tons of humanitarian aid across nine regions to assist families affected by heavy rains and floods, the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte said on Wednesday when making a second management report.

"This second management report has to begin, of course, by outlining the most immediate and urgent assistance to the populations affected by rains and floods," Mrs. Boluarte remarked.

"To date, we have delivered nearly 1,600 tons of humanitarian aid to nine regions affected by natural disasters," she added.

These statements were delivered at a press conference held at the end of the Council of Ministers session.

The Head of State noted that the BAP Pisco vessel has arrived in Piura with an additional 500 tons of humanitarian aid consisting of food, kitchen utensils, bottled water, tents, tools, machinery (backhoes, water pumps), and roof panels.

The material will be distributed among families in Peru's northern regions of Piura, Lambayeque, and Tumbes.

Over 11,000 personnel deployed

The dignitary affirmed more than 11,000 military personnel have been deployed, including operational and administrative personnel, on a national scale, to support the evacuation of people, street and house cleaning, debris removal, dredging of basins, extraction of stagnant water, among other activities.

"Governing has never been easy and we have had to deal with a particularly difficult situation. We have faced two crises in these four months: a serious, internal and external political and social crisis, which put stability, constitutional order and democracy at stake," the President commented.

"And now we are facing a climate crisis of enormous proportions, which has mainly affected northern regions in the country," she said.
