The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday affirmed that, since day one, her government has prioritized the promotion and acceleration of the natural gas massive use.

Her remarks were made during the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) and the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion), for the awarding of the natural gas distribution service in Arequipa, Moquegua, and Tacna.

Moreover, the Head of State noted that the construction of new networks will be made viable in said regions in the first stage, by setting the goal of developing a 150-km-infrastructure that will benefit more than 12,000 homes.

"The Bonogas program, which will fully subside natural gas access to households, will be implemented along with the construction of networks in Arequipa, Moquegua, and Tacna," she said.

The President recalled that Bonogas had financed gas connections for more than 1.2 million families across eight regions, through the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), and will now reach the three aforementioned southern regions.

"Natural gas will generate a positive impact on the household economy as it provides a permanent supply, without interruptions, with a saving of 50% compared to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or a conventional gas cylinder," she highlighted.

Moreover, the dignitary explained that Bonogas is not only intended for homes, but also for soup kitchens, social support establishments, health centers, schools, as well as medium and small-sized enterprises (MSEs)

Additionally, natural gas can be used in vehicular transportation, reducing fuel costs by up to 50%.
