underscored on Tuesday that the Government will be present to address the population's needs in response to the effects of El Niño phenomenon.
Likewise, the Head of State pledged to continue working to ensure that Peru remains connected despite the heavy rainfall forecast.
The top official made the remarks in Lima's northern Ancon district during the presentation of modular bridges that will be sent to various parts of the country for use in areas potentially affected by the weather phenomenon.
"We are taking mitigation measures, and I will continue supervising their implementation. You have my commitment that this Government will be present; we will not stand idly by in the face of the population's needs," Fujimori stated.
"We will continue working to address any difficulties so that Peru remains connected and supplied, but, above all, very united," she added.
In this regard, the President indicated that El Niño is a challenge requiring coordinated action by the entire Peruvian State.
"Each ministry, each regional government, and each municipality must assume its responsibility, and we are aware; in the past, improvisation, sluggishness, and indifference were our worst enemies," Fujimori said.
"That is why we are working with a sense of urgency to address this problem, which is only a few months away," she added.
The Head of State emphasized that this is a concrete preventive action in response to El Niño.
Moreover, the top official announced that a total of 20 metal modular bridges are being transported to the north and five to the south of the country.
"These will be transported progressively so that they are available in the zones where they are needed, with an investment worth more than S/60 million (above US$17.90 million)," Fujimori stated.
She explained that modular bridges are adaptable and can be assembled according to need, providing the advantage of reducing response times in emergencies through faster installation.
President Fujimori was accompanied by Transportation and Communications Minister Rafael Rey on this occasion.
