The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, stated that the Executive Branch will continue working to strengthen a cross-border integration policy that allows for achieving joint development with neighboring countries.

"I clearly and without hesitation express today the unavoidable commitment to continue working firmly on strengthening our foreign policy," he said.

The Head of State made this statement during the closing ceremony of the academic year at the Peruvian Diplomatic Academy and the induction of the 63rd class, "Ambassador Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde," into the Diplomatic Service of the Republic.

The top official noted the government will continue working with determination in crucial areas such as environmental diplomacy, with a priority on combating climate change and protecting our Amazon.

His administration —he said— will focus on scientific and cultural diplomacy as well, which will allow Peru to showcase to the world its innovative capacity and the immense historical legacy it contributes in these fields.

"I also want to highlight the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' role as the voice of Peru at international forums such as the Organization of American States (OAS), the United Nations (UN), APEC, and other global spaces," Jeri mentioned.

"in addition, it serves as a protective and supportive institution for our citizens abroad, safeguarding our foreign policy principles — from the defense of democracy to respect for international law," he emphasized.

Lastly, the Head of State urged the new public servants to carry out their duties with ethics, loyalty to the homeland, and a commitment to service.

"Peru, our government, and all of us trust in you. Go forth and put all your talent at the service of the nation, especially since our country has always been — and will continue to be — known for having excellent representatives trained by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Jeri pointed out.

"You are the continuation of that legacy, and as such, you must carry it forward with great honor and a patriotic spirit," he concluded.

This event took place at Torre Tagle Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima, on Thursday.
