The government is focused on promoting education, medicine, and health, the President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, stated Wednesday.

Remarks were made at the signing ceremony for the Public-Private Partnership project contract for the operation and maintenance of the new Villa El Salvador Emergency Hospital.

The Head of State stressed that this is a highly significant agreement that will improve healthcare delivery.

The top official noted that his administration aims to continue boosting projects similar to the one in Villa El Salvador district involving private sector participation.

The contract signing marks a milestone in the implementation of investment mechanisms aimed at improving the quality of public healthcare services.

The project includes an estimated investment of US$284 million.

It will involve the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure, the replacement of clinical and non-clinical equipment, as well as the comprehensive management of the hospital’s general services, ensuring proper operation and maintenance standards.

This initiative will directly benefit nearly one million residents in southern Lima, including Villa El Salvador, Villa Maria del Triunfo, San Juan de Miraflores, Lurin, and Pachacamac districts.

President Balcazar recalled that, during his time in Congress, one of his priorities—alongside healthcare—was the creation of universities to improve education in Peru and train more professionals in critical fields such as medicine.

He added that this approach will help advance better healthcare services for Peruvians.

Also attending the ceremony were Cabinet Chief Luis Arroyo; Ministers Rodolfo Acuna (Economy and Finance) and Juan Carlos Velasco (Health); and Proinversion Executive President Luis del Carpio.
