The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday stated that the Government deems it essential to continue supporting and strengthening the anti-corruption police force in the fight against this scourge that affects various institutions in Peru.

Remarks were made during the ceremony commemorating the 23rd anniversary of the creation of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) Anti-Corruption Directorate (Dircorcor) held in Lima's Lince district.

"It is essential for us to support and strengthen the work of our anti-corruption police, ensuring that they have the necessary tools and resources to fulfill their duties and work without pressure, threats, blackmail, or obstacles," she expressed.

The president noted that her administration will always support good police agents, but will also be very severe in punishing those who dishonor the institution by receiving bribes or misusing their positions.

The Head of State indicated that the work of Dircorcor "does not distinguish between the ranks or hierarchies of authorities or officials who dare to fall into the clutches of corruption."

"We value that this courageous work allows us to fight against corruption with total firmness," she added.

In this regard, the top official reported that during this year, 400 people involved in acts of corruption were arrested and 16 criminal networks were dismantled, all thanks to more than 700 operations carried out nationwide.

"During this fight, more than S/360,000 (above US$96,000) was also recovered from corruption, 300 police officers were trained in State procurement management, and awareness talks were given to almost 40,000 citizens," she added.
