The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday announced a budget for the technical file of the new hospital in Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho (SJL) district, for which she urged the mayor of said district, Jesus Maldonado, to provide the land to build it on.

"We already have the budget for the technical file, but cannot move forward without land. That is why we say that municipalities are our articulating arms with which we have to coordinate to achieve benefits for the population," she expressed.

The Head of State underlined the need to have an unencumbered space for the construction of the hospital that will benefit the residents of San Juan de Lurigancho and other districts.

"I am not going to leave (San Juan) de Lurigancho if we don't lay the first stone, dear mayor," she said.

Moreover, the top official highlighted that her Government will continue to work for the well-being of 33 million Peruvians, including children and young people.

For this reason, she noted that the number of beneficiaries of the Beca 18 (Scholarship 18) program will double in 2024, adding that 10,000 scholarships will be awarded next year compared to 5,000 in 2023.

In addition, Mrs. Boluarte remarked that her goal is to award a total of 50,000 scholarships by the end of her term in 2026.

"My desire is to award 50,000 Beca 18 scholarships by 2026, when we leave office, so that our children, young people, and adolescents can pursue university or technical studies. Knowledge and understanding are important," she indicated.

The announcements were made during the second delivery of equipment to women running soup kitchens and community kitchens that are part of the "My Entrepreneurship Women" project, which seeks to improve the economic situation of members of social organizations, through the development of their capabilities.

The event took place in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho. In addition to the President of the Republic, it was attended by the mayor of said district, as well as by Development-Social Inclusion Minister Julio Demartini.
