The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday announced that all police agents will be deployed to beef up security on the streets across the country, in a frontal fight against delinquency and crime.
During the ceremony to present 3,500 police agents who will join the strengthening of citizen security in Lima, Mrs. Boluarte indicated that this new contingent will carry out patrolling, intelligence, and crime prevention works.
"I have entrusted the (Interior) minister (Vicente Romero) and the National Police Commander General Jorge Angulo with the task of carrying out a comprehensive review of the staff who are not dedicated to patrol duties and to combating crime, in order to mobilize every police agent to tighten security on the streets," she said.
In this regard, the country's top official stated that the presence of additional police agents on the streets will allow us to continue protecting and defending citizens, in order to ensure security in the areas with the highest crime rate, which will be replicated throughout the country.
"I reiterate my full support for the Peruvian National Police (PNP), a tutelary, self-sacrificing, and professional institution, which is always willing to work for the country," she said.
"My Government will continue to strengthen this institution by providing it with more resources and tools so that it can efficiently fulfill its mission," the dignitary added.
Likewise, the President urged police agents joining the fight against citizen insecurity to rise to the occasion, take decisive action, and provide a timely and humane service to protect those who need it most and the most vulnerable.
"I want to reaffirm to all Peruvians that the Government's commitment to citizen security, public order, peace, as well as respect for the rule of law and democracy is firm and clear. No one should doubt it," she asserted.
In this sense, the Head of State noted that the Government will continue working to combat delinquency and crime with more determination.
