on Saturday confirmed that the National Government has been working intensely for the citizens who lost everything due to heavy rains, not only in northern Piura region, but also throughout the country.
Otarola arrived in Piura region bringing a total of four tons of humanitarian aid.
Within this framework, the high-ranking official indicated that at this time "there should be no discrepancies but rather everyone should pitch in to support the affected regions."
"We emphatically reaffirm that the National Government will not only address the problem in Piura, but throughout the country; essentially, we will work intensely for all the people who lost everything," Otarola stated.
"At this moment, there are many compatriots in Piura who lost their homes, their properties, their schools," he added.
In this sense, the Prime Minister announced that Cabinet members will fulfill an intense agenda in said region, where they will meet with mayors and visit various areas to supervise the joint work being carried out by the machinery aimed at restoring the viability of various zones.
Likewise, the government's spokesman affirmed that the humanitarian aid sent via an Armed Forces aircraft is intended to assist those affected by the heavy rainfall registered in said area over recent days.
"Two days ago, another emergency was activated; we will still have rains until May, apparently we face a mild El Niño (phenomenon); in response to this announcement, the Government took very important measures such as permanent visits to the affected areas," he indicated.
In this regard, Otarola announced that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers will designate Oswaldo Hernandez as liaison between Piura region and the Executive Branch, in addition to the sector's head who is attached to this area of the country.
"Concerning the health sector, we built a basic assistance network to support Peruvians; in terms of defense, all battalions are available and the entire (National) Civil Defense system is ready; we are here to make decisions (...)," he expressed.
