Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Thursday affirmed that the Government will continue to advocate for dialogue with all parliamentary groups, whether they agree with the position of the Executive Branch or not.

"In the next few days, we will meet with each and every parliamentary group. We said this from the beginning. We extend our hand to all citizens of good faith, to all parliamentary groups that agree, criticize, or openly disagree with the Government led by Dr. Boluarte, with specific concern for the country," he said.

The remarks were delivered at a press conference after meeting with members of the Somos Peru (We are Peru) parliamentary group.

The Cabinet chief was optimistic that parliamentary groups will provide important contributions to governing for the poorest and most deprived during the next 18 months.

"This is the Cabinet of dialogue, peace, and meritocracy. We want to listen to the parliamentary groups that disagree with us. They do not necessarily have to agree with the positions or policies that we are implementing," he pointed out.

Likewise, the Prime Minister said he is confident that Parliament will grant a confidence vote to the Cabinet he leads so as to continue working for the country.

"We hope that we can work with the level of confidence achieved in order to make decisions to ensure democratic governance," he added.

Confidence vote

For his part, Somos Peru legislator Jose Jeri emphasized that his group has asked the Government to prioritize social peace, dialogue between institutions, and a decentralized industrialization process, as a criterion to evaluate whether or not a vote of confidence is granted.

"It will be a criterion that we will take into account for the vote to confidence," he explained.
