The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte will deliver an Address to the Nation on July 28, in which she will reiterate a call for national unity, Prime Minister Alberto Otarola announced on Wednesday.

"It will be a powerful and strong message for the consolidation of Peruvian identity," said Otarola, who stressed that the Head of State will raise the "flag of progress and governability."

During a press briefing, the Cabinet chief indicated that, in her speech at Congress on Peru's Independence Day Anniversary, Mrs. Boluarte "will reiterate her call for national unity."

Otarola affirmed that the top official currently prepares her speech in coordination "with all sectors of organized civil society."

Additionally, the Head of State is dedicated full-time "to completing the development of the emergency strategy for Global El Niño and to meeting with all sectors to address cold spell and weather problems that are going to hit us," he said.

Parade and march

Asked about the announced opposition march called for July 19, the Prime Minister indicated that security at this upcoming event will be guaranteed by the Government.

In this sense, the government official said the rights of citizens who act peacefully during that event will be respected, as well as those of citizens who do not wish to march and prefer to work on that day.

Within this framework, he underscored that the homeland's month is celebrated in July. Therefore, after a three-year pause, a civic-military parade will take place, including the participation of various sectors of society, at which it will be reminded that Peru "is a peaceful country."

Otarola also affirmed that the President "is going to agree to the investigations," adding that Mrs. Boluarte "in due time will say what she has to say," regarding the alleged plagiarism in a book whose authorship was attributed to her in an investigative journalism report.

Remarks were made at the Government Palace Courtyard of Honor following a Council of Ministers session.
