Prime Minister Denisse Miralles on Thursday said government ministers meet technical criteria and have the task of serving the population.

These remarks were made by the government official after holding a meeting with the Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) congressional group as part of the political dialogue ahead of the confidence vote.

At the end of this meeting, the Prime Minister told reporters that "there are no political quotas in this Cabinet."

"We have ministers who meet a technical profile and who are tasked with swiftly addressing the population's needs," she stated.

Regarding the recent appointment of Health Minister Juan Carlos Velasco Guerrero, the Cabinet chief said the official has submitted all sworn declarations as a sign of transparency.

She emphasized that there are no sentences against him, adding that the investigations must follow their course.

Citizen security

Regarding citizen security, the Prime Minister indicated the Executive Branch is implementing a different strategy through the incorporation of more than 5,700 agents on March 18 and 19, which will help improve police deployment.

"In addition, the procurement process for installing security cameras on buses will soon be launched, which will help us a great deal," she noted, adding that this issue was presented to the Fuerza Popular group by Interior Minister Hugo Begazo.

As for the meeting, Miralles said the Cabinet presented the Executive Branch's management plan until July. They received comments and suggestions from Fuerza Popular lawmakers.

"We are 30 days away from the elections, and there is little time from now to July, but it is enough not only to resolve immediate problems, but to lay the foundations so that the next government can start strong policies that will allow our country, with the macroeconomic stability we have, to gain momentum and grow at levels much higher than the current ones," she pointed out.

In that context, the Cabinet chief said Peru needs everyone united.

Although the Executive Branch has certain powers, it does not govern alone but together with Congress, as well as with regional and local governments, she noted.

"We also explained some of the pressing issues we have had to address in these 15 days in office, particularly those related to the El Niño emergency that is causing damage in more than 52% of the country's districts," Miralles stated.

She concluded by describing the meeting as "very positive, very cordial," adding that they have committed to working together on the plan presented.
