Prime Minister Mirtha Vasquez on Tuesday virtually chaired the Fourth Ordinary Session of the 2021 National Council for Citizen Security (Conasec), which is held in a decentralized manner in the Andean region of Cajamarca.
"Multisectoral action is the main public management strategy for citizen security. This allows us to provide and expand opportunities for the vulnerable population, as well as to contribute to pursuing a common goal: well-being and peaceful coexistence," Vasquez said in her speech.
"Here at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), we want to reaffirm our commitment and willingness to continue working in a coordinated and joint manner so as to build the peaceful society that we need in order to live," she added.
The Session addressed the short-term strategy on Comprehensive Citizen Security 2022-I —presented by Interior Minister Avelino Guillen— among other issues.
"We must strengthen criminal investigation procedures and police investigations. We need to develop a more agile judicial system. We support the actions undertaken by the Ministry of Justice. We need national unity against crime," Guillen pointed out.
Organized in a virtual and in-person format, the Session featured the participation of the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Women, the General Commander of the National Police of Peru, the head of the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE), and the Deputy Ombudsman in the Ombudsman's Office.
Also participating were the representatives of the Association of Municipalities of Peru (AMPE) and the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR), among other members.
