Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen on Friday announced that the Government has been evaluating the possibility of lifting the states of emergency currently in force in several districts of the Valley of Apurímac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (Vraem).

The government official participated in the launch of Vraem Productivo (Productive Vraem program) in Pichari area, La Convencion province, Cusco region.

Within this framework, the prime minister indicated that the Executive Branch has been developing political support for the Armed and Police Forces in this area of the country.

"Fortunately, a large part of the districts (in the Vraem area) are now completely pacified, and we are now considering the possibility of lifting the states of emergency," he told reporters.

The Cabinet chief said this measure does not mean that crime has already disappeared, but that now "it is reduced to confined spaces."

"And what we want now is this unity of the Armed Forces and the National Police with the local population to engage in other activities jointly," he stated.

In this regard, Defense Minister Walter Astudillo explained that the Government's policy is to reduce the states of emergency, which are currently in force 35 Vraem districts, to only seven in the next two years.

University

Moreover, the prime minister underscored the prompt establishment of the University of the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (Vraem), thanks to the document that establishes its creation, signed by President Dina Boluarte.

"President Boluarte has already signed the law creating the Vraem University, which is very important. We will soon establish the university's organizing committee so that the funds from Pichari's mining canon are the first to come in, and we will continue moving forward soon," Adrianzen expressed.

He also indicated that, with this university, young people will be able to study nine careers, in accordance with local needs, so as to collaborate to the development of Pichari and Vraem.
