Prime Minister Alberto Otarola —in charge of the Foreign Affairs Ministry's office— recently supported the 2024 Public Budget at a Congress plenary session.

On the occasion, his speech focused on strengthening bilateral and trade relations, as well as on providing assistance to fellow citizens abroad and in border areas as priorities for this government agency.

"Concerning the border and South American framework, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes political-diplomatic dialogue, with the aim of increasing trade relations, preserving the environment, addressing the immigration challenge and digital transformation," Otarola specified.

The Cabinet chief indicated that Binational Cabinets with Bolivia, Chile, and Ecuador are expected to be held in Peru next year. Those events will have the purpose of granting renewed dynamism to economic, cultural, and scientific exchanges in favor of the population.

Similarly, the budget allocated to public investment will be used in the implementation of national attention centers on the border, specifically in Loreto and Madre de Dios regions.

Likewise, the high-ranking official explained that the Foreign Affairs Ministry works in Europe to strengthen political-diplomatic, economic, and cooperation relations, in accordance with national interests.

In 2024, commemorative activities will be held, such as the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Italy, as well as the 140th anniversary of bilateral relations and 60 years of cooperation with Switzerland.
