The Ministry of Culture, through the Decentralized Directorate of Culture in Cusco (DDC Cusco), reported that the 1,000 admission tickets to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu for Saturday, April 4 sold out.

The tickets were available for in-person purchase at the Cultural Center in Machu Picchu Pueblo (Town) district.

In a statement issued on Friday, it said that, in compliance with limits established by current regulations to protect cultural heritage, ticket availability cannot be expanded.

"Within the framework of the current Holy Week season, priority is being given to ensuring that visits to Machu Picchu take place under safe, orderly, and satisfactory conditions," the document stated.

"In that regard, visitors are invited to enjoy the broad cultural wealth of the Cusco region, which features a diversity of archaeological sites, museums, and other tourist attractions that will help enrich their travel experience," it indicated.

Finally, the DDC Cusco reaffirmed its commitment to complying with current regulations, as well as to the proper management and preservation of cultural heritage.
