So far, 1,177 districts across the country have been declared under a state of emergency due to heavy rainfall and the hazards associated with it,
National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) Chief Luis Vasquez Guerrero reported on Thursday.
At a press conference, the official noted that the number of these jurisdictions is periodically adjusted based on studies assessing the situation caused by weather phenomena in those areas.
In that regard, he mentioned that Peru has a total of 1,892 districts.
Likewise, the Indeci head said the rainfall has generated 3,092 emergencies, leaving 22,493 people affected.
In that context, Vasquez added that 63 people have died as a result of these events, with most of the fatalities occurring in Ancash region.
Furthermore, he specified that 12 of these deaths occurred this month, including the two most recent cases recorded the previous day in Ancash and in Ayabaca, Piura region.
Similarly, the Indeci official indicated that 1,112 homes have been destroyed, while 8,515 others have been left uninhabitable.

Fatal incidents
The Indeci chief stated that Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, Arequipa, Ayacucho, and Madre de Dios remain the regions most affected by rainfall.
Regarding the landslide that claimed the life of a woman in Ayabaca, Vasquez reported that the necessary resources have been provided to remove debris and clear the area where it occurred.
He also mentioned that the State-run Special National Transportation Infrastructure Project (Provias) is undertaking efforts to address the collapse of a bridge in Ancash. That incident caused a pickup truck to fall into a river, leaving one person dead and three others injured.
The official indicated that the installation of a Bailey bridge is planned, a metal structure used in cases such as this one.
Moreover, Vasquez specified that an alternate route for vehicle traffic has been enabled 300 meters away, along with another on the road linking Casma and Huarmey.
Regarding Ayacucho, he said efforts are underway to desilt the area near the Santa Rosa Bridge to prevent it from being destroyed.
He mentioned that the situation is currently limiting vehicle traffic in this area.
Regarding humanitarian aid for those affected, Vasquez announced seven trucks will depart tomorrow to various parts of the country carrying these supplies.
He added 500 tons of aid are available to regional governments that require it.
