Peru's Foreign Affairs Min announces redefinition of Reinforced Foreign Policy

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea reported that the meeting of ambassadors and representatives abroad, held from April 16 to 18 in Lima's district of Ancon, ended with a document that will contribute to the redefinition of the Reinforced Foreign Policy that will be ready in the next few months.

In a recent interview with RPP Noticias, the minister explained that the document resulting from the meeting of senior diplomats complements the guidelines of the Reinforced Foreign Policy that was presented before Congress in 2023 by the foreign affairs minister.

Likewise, he asserted that the Reinforced Foreign Policy to be redefined will constitute an element of internal management that will also provide a vision of the future 20 and 30 years from now.

The Cabinet member explained that this instrument is a contribution that everyone makes 

"(…) because it is important for a Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have an overall vision," he expressed.

The Foreign Affairs sector's head noted that the aforementioned meeting was attended by Peruvian ambassadors abroad, permanent representatives of Peru, consuls general of cities with a large presence of Peruvian nationals, and general directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At this conclave, working groups were formed to address topics such as Government and Digital Transformation; Environment and Sustainability; Trade Promotion, Investments and Tourism; Global and Regional Integration; Institutional Role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Consular Services and Community Linkages; among others.

The meeting also included presentations by experts on the Insertion of Peru in the International Context, Digital Transformation, Export of Services, Port of Chancay, Trade Policy, Projection of Peru's Image Abroad, and Reinforced Technical Cooperation.
