indicated that we live in times marked by unprecedented challenges that require people to move towards a new, more inclusive, and equitable global governance which fosters the transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as establishes guidelines for the proper use of artificial intelligence (AI).
At this event, the ambassador said Peru understands the Pact for the Future as a tool that must respect the sovereignty of States, as well as promote cooperation based on solidarity, mutual respect, and equity for us.
"This pact is not and will never be an imposition or an agenda that erodes our traditions or our domestic legal order, but rather a platform that allows us to work jointly with other nations, with the aim of addressing the challenges that we share, such as the fight against poverty, environmental protection, and a more just-equitable world economic order," he underlined.
Minister Schialer emphasized that it is a call to build a future where sustainable development, peace, and prosperity are accessible to all, without implying the need to give up our identity, values, or autonomy as a nation.
The diplomat underlined that Peru is working hard to reduce social gaps and include sectors of the population that have been historically neglected.
"This objective includes greater ambition in our national and collective actions, as well as sustainable financial commitments by the international community that allow for an adequate provision of resources for developing countries," he indicated.
The high-ranking official said that an important result of the
Summit of the Future is the
commitment to start an intergovernmental process for the adoption of multidimensional progress indicators that go beyond measuring the advances achieved in gross domestic product.
In this regard, Minister Schialer welcomed the establishment of high-level experts group to work on the development of new indicators.
"We are confident that this work will be crucial to channel international cooperation in the most efficient and inclusive manner, including middle-income countries where pockets of poverty and exclusion persist," Schialer expressed.
"We also welcome the fact that this summit addresses emerging issues of great impact for new generations, such as digitalization and artificial intelligence," he concluded.
