Exports continue growing. Peruvian shipments abroad totaled US$33.046 billion between January and June 2024, a 7.2% increase over the same period in 2023 (US$30.814 billion), driven mainly by the traditional sector, the Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) reported on Thursday.

According to the Adex Data Trade Business Intelligence System, traditional shipments amounted to US$24.516 billion (+10.4%).

The following sectors evolved positively: mining, US$21.055 billion (+11.7%); primary fishing, US$1.073 billion (+26.1%); and agriculture, US$302 million (+46.6%). On the other hand, hydrocarbons (US$1.073 billion) declined 9%.

Mining's offer consisted of copper, its concentrates, and gold, which together accounted for 61.4% of the portfolio. It also included refined copper cathodes, iron, fish meal, molybdenum, zinc, natural gas, lead, and silver.

These products arrived mainly in China (US$11.340 billion), followed by India, Japan, Canada, the United States, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Brazil, and Chile.

Others were grapes, blueberries, natural calcium phosphates, cacao beans, refined copper wire, mangoes, frozen giant squid, unalloyed zinc, and asparagus.

The United States (US$2.425 billion) was the leading market by receiving 28.4% of the total shipped to the world by this sector, experiencing a 5.2% increase.

The top ten destinations were completed by the Netherlands, Chile, Spain, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, China, and Bolivia.
