Peru's Correa runner-up at Pro Taghazout Bay in Morocco

17:55 | Taghazout (Morocco), Jan. 31.

Peruvian surfer Alonso Correa finished second at the World Surf League's 2020 Pro Taghazout Bay in Morocco, a competition that drew 90 surfers from around the world.

Unfortunately, the promising young surfer lost the final to U.S. Nat Young

The winner got a total score of 18.34 points, while the Peruvian got 16.03.

In the quarterfinals, Correa —who obtained a score of 12.93 points— beat Shane Sykes (South Africa), who scored 11.53 points.

Afterwards, he reached the semi-finals, where he defeated Portuguese Frederico Morais.

At this point, Correa qualified for the finals with 18.33 points, while his opponent got 16.30 points.

Another Peruvian representative in this competition was Lucca Mesinas, who, unluckily, was eliminated in the round of 16.

The Pro Taghazout Bay lasted one week and took place in Morocco.
