Peru's Air Force plane departs for Venezuela with 14 tons of aid

A Peruvian Air Force (FAP) aircraft carrying 14 tons of humanitarian aid departed from Air Group No. 8 in Callao region for Venezuela on Sunday morning to assist those affected by the earthquakes.


The official said the Peruvian Air Force's Hercules aircraft was transporting food and non-food relief supplies to meet the most urgent needs of those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela.

The Indeci head indicated that the food supplies include rice, sugar, pasta, cooking oil, and canned tuna, while the non-food items consist of tents, folding beds, folding tables, cooking pots, hygiene kits, and other essential supplies.

He said the shipment dispatched to the Caribbean country reflects the Peruvian people's solidarity and reaffirms the government's commitment to the principles of humanitarian assistance.


In turn, the Ministry of Defense highlighted coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the delivery of this assistance to those affected by the earthquakes that struck Venezuela last Thursday.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored that the shipment is part of Peru's ongoing humanitarian response to the emergency facing the Venezuelan people.

It also noted its coordination with the Ministry of Defense, Indeci, and the Peruvian Air Force to deliver the humanitarian supplies.

The Peruvian Air Force aircraft has a 20-ton cargo capacity. It arrived in Caracas on a nonstop flight lasting six hours.

The aircraft's pilot, Peruvian Air Force Colonel Juan Carlos Vasquez, said the Defense Ministry's coordinated efforts made it possible to carry out the mission.
