The
and his Bolivian counterpart Luis Arce on Saturday participated in a wreath-placing ceremony to honor Marshal Andres de Santa Cruz y Calahuama at the mausoleum located at Plaza Murillo (Murillo Square) in La Paz.
This binational meeting —a space for political-diplomatic coordination at the highest level— will serve as the framework for the coordination of various topics on the bilateral agenda.
It will come to an end with the signing of a Joint Declaration and the presentation of an Action Plan to be assumed by both Heads of State as a binational commitment.
Following the wreath placing ceremony, 14 Peruvian State Ministers and
Cabinet Chief Mirtha Vasquez joined President Castillo and the entire Bolivian cabinet —led by President Arce— for the official photo.
The two leaders approached a group of supporters who were celebrating the official visit of the Peruvian president —before the dignitaries headed to Palacio Quemado to start the Binational Ministerial Cabinet meetings.
Cabinet
This Binational Ministerial Cabinet is held after the commitment that both presidents made in a private meeting at Lima's Government Palace —once Mr. Castillo had officially been sworn in as President of the Republic on July 28.
The two leaders agreed to resume the Presidential Meeting and VI Binational Ministerial Cabinet this year.
Both nations' Deputy Foreign Affairs Ministers have met twice —virtually on September 27 and in person on October 6— to address the priority issues of the bilateral relationship and prepare the Binational Ministerial Cabinet.
The Peru-Bolivia Presidential Meetings and Binational Ministerial Cabinets have been held five times between 2015 and 2019.
